Mac Profile Name
Description:
Within the Mac supplicant, each configuration is stored in a separate profile identified by a unique name. For wired connections, a profile contains the interface, user name, password, and the list of acceptable EAP Types. Profiles for wireless connections contain the same things, plus the SSID. Mac refers to the profiles as 'configurations' and the profile's name as 'description'.
Notes:
The Mac treats wireless 802.1X essentially the opposite of Windows. In Windows, you have a list of SSIDs and some of them may be 802.1X and therefore contain the 802.1X configuration. On a Mac, the list of profiles only contains 802.1X networks, both wired and wireless. Non-802.1X SSIDs do not appear in this list. Profiles are configured on the 802.1X tab of the Internet Connect application.

If the tabs do not appear within Internet Connect, click the expand button (upper-right corner of the form) or select the menu item 'File/New 802.1X Connection...'.

To add a profile, click the 802.1X tab. Then, click 'Configurations' and select 'Edit Configurations...'. In the bottom-right corner, click the plus sign to create a new profile.
Default Value:
The list of profiles is empty by default.
Cloudpath Help :
Within the Mac supplicant, information is stored in profiles, each with a profile name. Cloudpath can detect whether or not a particular profile is defined on the system. Typically, the profile name is also the SSID name in a wireless environment.

Supported settings include:
Configured - Default. The profile is considered configured if it exists in the list of profiles within Internet Connect. If the profile exists by name, it will be modified. If not, it will be created.

Cloudpath is able to auto remediate this setting.
By default, Mac OS X does not contain any profiles.
Note: A single profile name is tied to a single interface. Therefore, if supporting both wired and wireless connections, the profile name for wired connections should not be the same as for wireless. We recommend using the ssid as the profile name for wireless and using 'Sample University Wired' for wired connections.

On Leopard and newer, setting this value to [SYSTEM] will cause the profile to be stored as the System profile. Any other name will be stored as a User profile.
