Name:
Link Layer Discovery Protocol
Description:
When enabled, the computer will perform an authentication attempt using the MAC address when a user is not logged in.
Notes:
This is only available if 802.1X is enabled.
Values:
Checked
An 802.1X authentication attempt will be performed using the MAC address when no user is logged in.
Unchecked
Authentication by MAC address will not be attempted.
Default Value:
Checked once 802.1X is enabled.
Recommended Setting:
The decision whether to enable this or not largely depends on the network implementation. Some switches will close the port if an authentication attempt fails and quit listening for EAP messages. In this case, the computer will never get another chance to authenticate if the MAC authentication attempt is rejected by the RADIUS server and the switch closes the port. Some switches support reauthentication to avoid this issue.
Cloudpath Help :
Cloudpath is able to detect the state of the 'Link Layer Discovery Protocol' setting. This setting controls whether or not Windows will attempt to use its Link Layer Discovery Protocol on the network.

Supported settings include:
Disabled - Default. When selected, Windows will have the Link Layer Discovery Protocol disabled.
Enabled - When selected, Windows will have the Link Layer Discovery Protocol enabled.

Cloudpath is able to auto remediate this setting.
