Controls the use of PEAP Fast Reconnect. When used in conjunction with a PEAP Fast Reconnect capable RADIUS server, Fast Reconnect allows reauthentication attempts to be processed faster. This reduces, for example, roaming latency in a wireless network. Fast Reconnect improves performance by resuming the previous inner tunnel rather than establishing a new one.
Notes:
For PEAP Fast Reconnect to be functional, both the client and the RADIUS server must have it enabled. By design, PEAP should function normally if Fast Reconnect is enabled but not usable, however implementation issues have existed.
Values:
Checked If RADIUS server also has Fast Reconnect enabled, Fast Reconnect will be used. Unchecked Fast Reconnect will not be used.
Default Value:
Unchecked
Recommended Setting:
If you are running IAS or another RADIUS server supporting Fast Reconnect, check it. Otherwise, uncheck it.
Cloudpath Help :
Cloudpath can detect the status of Fast Reconnect within the PEAP configuration.
Supported settings include:
Enabled - Default. When selected, PEAP Fast Reconnect will be attempted.
Disabled - When selected, PEAP Fast Reconnect will not be attempted.
Cloudpath is able to auto remediate this setting. By default, Windows XP will disable this for a new SSID.
