Name:

DNS by DHCP

Description:

Controls the manner in which Windows determines its domain name server.

Values:

Obtain DNS server address automatically
Windows will retrieve DNS information from DHCP. If IP address is statically defined, this option is not available.
Use the following DNS server addresses
Windows will use the statically defined DNS information.

Default Value:

Obtain DNS server address automatically

Recommended Setting:

Obtain DNS server address automatically

Cloudpath Help :

Cloudpath can detect the state of DHCP related to DNS.

Supported settings include:

Obtain DNS server address automatically - Default. When selected, the DNS server address will be retrieved using DHCP. This value is only valid if 'IP by DHCP' is set to 'Obtain IP address automatically'.

If the user is changed from static to DHCP, a revert will properly set the machine's static DNS entries.
Cloudpath is able to auto remediate this setting.
